Rani Mukerji's 2014 action thriller Mardaani stood tall among the best and most intriguing films of the year. After five years since release, the makers announced its sequel, leaving fans and the audience excited for yet another interesting chapter of 'good triumphs over evil'. Post making all of us wait for quite some time on further developments on the film, the makers, on Monday, shared the date announcement teaser. Mardaani 2, starring Rani as Shivani Shivaji Roy is all set to open at theatres on December 13, 2019.
The announcement teaser gave a glimpse into Rani's even stronger and powerful avatar as a ruthless cop. With dialogues like 'ab tu kisi ladki ko haath laga ke toh dikha. Tujhe itna marungi ki teri twacha se teri umra ka pata nahi chalega', the film seems to talk about harassment against girls and is likely to touch upon the topic of rape. In Mardaani 2, it is said that Rani will be seen pitted against a 21-year-old menacing villain who can be called pure evil. However, the actor who will play the villain has still been kept in the wraps. The film marks the directorial debut of Gopi Puthran, the writer of the first Mardaani film. Produced by Aditya Chopra, Mardaani 2 was shot extensively in Jaipur and parts of Rajasthan.
