On August 12, Kamal Haasan completed 60 years in the film industry, and the actor-filmmaker's latest project, Indian 2, went on the floors on that day. The ambitious project marks the reunion of Kamal and filmmaker S Shankar after two decades, and also features Rakul Preet Singh, along with Kajal Aggarwal, Siddharth and Priya Bhavani Shankar in crucial roles. The film will see the return of Kamal as ruthless vigilante Senapathy, a character that became popular on the release of the first film in 1996.
After completing the Andhra Pradesh schedule, the makers are back to Tamil Nadu for another schedule in Sri Perumbudur. Although there was news that Ajay Devgn was being considered to play the antagonist in Indian 2, we now hear that it will be not Ajay but Anil Kapoor who will star alongside Kamal in the film. The exciting news has come forth after a photo of Anil conversing with director Shankar went viral on social media. Several media reports suggest that Anil visited the director in Chennai to discuss his character among other things. For now an official confirmation is awaited on the same.

The first-look poster of Indian 2 was released earlier this year on the occasion of Pongal. The poster features Karma displaying Varma Kalai skills in his avatar as the octogenarian vigilante, Senapathy. In the film, Siddharth is reportedly playing Kamal's grandson, and is paired opposite Rakul Preet.
