It won't be wrong to say Deepika Padukone falls among the best actresses that Bollywood has currently. She, not just with her flawless looks, but also with her natural acting ease, has managed to win the hearts of the audience and critics alike. Deepika, be it the role of a girl-next-door or a queen, she knows to master every character given to her, giving it a personal touch. And now, as she turned to play the role of an acid attack survivor in Meghna Gulzar's Chhapaak, Deepika has given it her all and there ain't a denial. Recalling the shoot days of Chhapaak, Deepika, who isn't just acting in the film but also co-producing it, during an interview, revealed that post the film wrapped, she picked up a piece of the prosthetics used on her and burnt it with alcohol. She cited the emotional and tough experience of the film as the reason for doing so and said by burning it off, she made an attempt to heal herself.
“I took the piece of the prosthetics took an alcohol, went to a corner and burnt it,” Deepika told.
Chhapaak is said to be inspired by Laxmi Agarwal, a real-life acid attack survivor. It will see Deepika playing the role of Malti, a girl who becomes a victim of an acid attack. Vikrant Massey will be Deepika's aka Malti's love interest, Amol. Directed by Meghna, Chhapaak has been shot in both Delhi and Mumbai and will release on January 10, 2020.
