The eldest daughter of late Sridevi and Boney Kapoor, Janhvi Kapoor made her big Bollywood debut with the official Hindi remake of the Marathi blockbuster Sairat. Co-starring Ishaan Khatter, Dhadak, although opened to mixed response, fans applauded the work of both debutants and welcomed them into films. Post this, fans of Janhvi and Rinku were hopeful that the actresses team up for a film and now, it seems the desire to see them share the same frame has come true. Well, yes, but there is a twist. Janhvi, on Sunday, on Instagram, shared a picture with Rinku, leaving us all excited.
Janhvi and Rinku, on Sunday, visited fashion designer Manish Malhotra at his store in the city and posed for pictures together. Like the former, the young Marathi star shared a picture from the meet on her Instagram.
Speaking of Sairat, the film starred Rinku as Archi, the daughter of a politician who falls in love with a lower caste boy named Parshya(Akash Thosar). The film was directed by Nagraj Manjule and went on to become a blockbuster by earning around Rs. 110 crores while it was mounted on a budget of just Rs. 4 crores. Sairat, roughly translates to 'wild', was released on April 29, 2016. Dhadak was directed by Shashank Khaitan and bankrolled by Karan Johar. It featured Janhvi as Parthavi while Ishaan was Madhukar. Dhadak also earned around Rs. 110 crores at the box-office and was filmed on a budget of Rs. 41 crores. Like the first one, the lead actress is shown to be belonging to a rich family while the actor was from a poor family. Both the films touched upon honour killing in rural India.
