Vidya Balan and Katrina Kaif, over the years in Bollywood, have established an independent and strong identity for themselves as artists. While Vidya is known for her challenging, flawless and mature acting, Katrina has showcased her prowess with action stunts and dancing paired with convincing acting skills. And as the two actresses are hailed for their respective talents, it seems an amalgamation of the best of both the worlds in the pipeline. As per reports of a leading daily, Vidya and Katrina are in advanced talks with ace filmmaker Aanand L. Rai for an action-comedy. The reports suggested that the film will be directed by debutant Anirudh Ganapathy, who was an assistant director with Aanand on Happy Bhag Jayegi and Zero. The source close to the yet to be announced film told the daily that Katrina will be headlining the film while Vidya is roped in for a parallel role. The actresses, upon hearing the final narration after the scripting process ends, will give their confirmation.
"Anirudh has been associated with Aanand sir's production house for many years, and has worked as an assistant director on Happy Bhag Jayegi (2016) and Zero (2018). While shooting for Zero, he shared the idea of the two-heroine film with Katrina, who agreed to do it in principle. The production house also approached Vidya for the parallel lead. The scripting is currently in its final stage; both actors will take a call only after the final narration. If all goes well, the film will have Vidya and Katrina sharing screen space for the first time," the source told the daily.
Workwise, Vidya was last seen in Mission Mangal, starring Akshay Kumar, Taapsee Pannu, Sonakshi Sinha, Kirti Kulhari and Nithya Menen. She is currently shooting for the biopic on 'human-calculator' Shakuntala Devi. Katrina last starred opposite Salman Khan in Bharat this year.
