Ajay Devgn, over several years in Bollywood, has proven to be a performer par excellence. Be it action or comedy, the actor has nailed it all. Ajay, as his expertise snowballs, has not just been opting for fantastic and rare scripts to showcase his mettle as an actor but has also divided his focus to production some riveting tales that have never been told before in the history of Indian cinema. After joining forces with his actress wife for her upcoming web film, Ajay, who is currently shooting for Maidaan, has taken the charge to recreate the aura and tale of the popular Ramsay Brothers on the celluloid. For the project on the pioneers of the horror genre in Indian cinema, as per reports of a leading daily, the Singham star along with his production partner Priti Sinha is said to have acquired the rights to adapt the story of Ramsay Brothers. The yet to be announced venture will be directed by Ritesh Shah, if reports of a leading daily are to be believed.
Taking about the same with a leading daily, Priti, who will be producing the tale on Ramsay Brothers' life, told that the excitement to depict the journey of hard work and success of three generations of the same family has shot up high for both Ajay and her. "The family has put their faith in us by giving us the rights to a film on their life. Ajay and I are excited to depict the fascinating journey of passion, hardship and success of three generations of the family that established the horror empire in India," Priti told.
According to a source close to the development informed the leading daily that the makers are yet to decide whether the project will be treated as a film or a web series. Adding further, the source told that Ajay will be just producing the venture and won't likely act in it.
Speaking of the Ramsay Brothers, they are credited with more than 30 horror films in Indian cinema and were termed to be the pioneers of the horror genre in cinema in the 80s. Known for their low-budget, sleaze and gore show, they found a permanent place in the minds of the audience with their unique style. Films like Veerana, Purani Haveli, Bandh Darwaza, Purana Mandir, Dak Bangla and several others are to their merit. A member of the renowned family, Shyam Ramsay breathed his last in September this year.
