Late Yash Chopra, with his impeccable storytelling prowess and manner of immortalising love, left behind a legacy that nobody can ever dare to touch. Be it his chiffon saree clad heroines romancing the hero against the backdrop of snow-clad mountains or touching upon long-lost tragic tales, the veteran cast his magic on the screen every single time. Although he is undoubtedly credited for some masterpieces, Veer-Zaara holds special importance in the history of cinema. Starring the stellar actors-Shah Rukh Khan, Rani Mukerji and Preity Zinta, the cross-border soulful narrative will always have our hearts melting for endless years to come. And as time passed away, Veer-Zaara, on Tuesday, completed 15 years since release. While the film is still fresh in the minds of avid cinema viewers, the team fondly remember precious moments from the shoot. Similarly, Rani, who played the role of a rookie lawyer Saamiya Siddiqui, recalled days of the shoot and shared some anecdotes during an interview with a leading daily. In the interview, Rani told that seeing Shah Rukh in an old man's avatar was awkward and since she played the role of his love interest in previous films, it was tough to visualise him as her father figure. Adding to this, she said it is easy to romance her Kuch Kuch Hota Hai co-star.
"I remember seeing Shah Rukh in an old avatar which was awkward. Before this I had always romanced him and in this film he had to look at me as a daughter and I had to look at him as a father figure, which was tough. Romancing Shah Rukh is much easier," Rani told.
The actress, who is gearing up for the release of Mardaani 2 produced by her husband Aditya Chopra, added that during the shoot, Yashji, also her father-in-law, emphasized her to focus on the shoot, which left Shah Rukh and her burst into laughter. "They would be like 'You got to concentrate on the shot' and Shah Rukh and I would start giggling that wouldn't stop," Rani added.
Speaking of Veer-Zaara, the film revolved around a squadron leader Veer Pratap Singh from India, who falls in love with Zaara Hayaat Khan from Pakistan. However, in a turn of events, Veer is prisoned in Lahore, which makes Zaara believe that he is dead. She then takes it upon herself to serve Veer's village in India. The now ex-squadron leader seeks the help of Saamiya in winning the case and reuniting with his long-lost love.
