Nawazuddin Siddiqui's and Athiya Shetty's quirky comedy revolving their wedding titled Motichoor Chaknachoor has been the talk of the town ever since its announcement for both. The film, which is slated to release on November 15, has been making the rounds for not just its interesting concept but also for the controversies it has been surrounded by in the past. And now, as per the latest development, the Debamitra Hasan directorial has yet again found itself in troubled waters. According to a report in a leading daily, a local civil court in Bihar has imposed a stay on Motichoor Chaknachoor's release merely a few days before its theatrical release.
According to the report, one of the local distributors has claimed the rights to the film with relevant documents to support the claim. Apart from this, reports suggested that the delay in the release has been caused owing to public fallout between producer Rajesh Bhatia and crew members of the film including the director.
This isn't the first time that the Nawazuddin-Athiya starrer has landed into trouble. Previously, the film and Rajesh came under the radar after the latter was accused of non-payment of dues including the lead actress Athiya's remuneration. Not just this, Rajesh, after an ugly fight, removed Debamitra as the director, who then filed a petition with Bombay High Court which had ordered a stay on the release of its much-delayed trailer. However, the stay was soon lifted.
Motichoor Chaknachoor also stars Vibha Chibber, Navni Parihar, Vivek Mishra, Karuna Pandey, Sanjeev Vats, Abhishek Rawat, Sapna Sand and Usha Nagar. It is jointly produced by Woodpecker Movies, Viacom18 Studios and Rajesh and Kiran Bhatia.
