Naseeruddin Shah, Arshad Warsi and Vidya Balan starrer Ishqiya, helmed by Vishal Bhardwaj, released in 2010 and was one of the widely acclaimed films that year. The makers returned with a sequel titled Dedh Ishqiya. The 2014 film had Naseeruddin and Arshad reprising their roles, however Vidya was replaced by Madhuri Dixit Nene and Huma Qureshi joined the cast as well.
Now almost after five years, we hear that the makers are keen on a third part of the film. Stating that it 'has much potential', Arshad told a leading daily, “I met Vishal some time ago. We were chatting about the film. We feel the franchise has much potential. Just like Sholay, this film too falls in the ‘local western’ slot. A franchise like this shouldn’t fizzle out. Even Naseer saab, Vishal and I feel the same. Maybe after Dedh, the sequel should be called Paune Do Ishqiyan (laughs).”
Well, we certainly cannot be more excited.
What's more? Arshad too dropped a hint on the Munna Bhai series and said, “Raju Hirani has three scripts ready which he thinks are not that great. I personally believe that they are well written and will do brilliantly. I am going to ask him to gift me these scripts as my birthday surprise. I would like to make films with these scripts which are bad according to him. You can’t let them go waste!”
On the work front, Arshad will next be seen in Anees Bazmee's comic caper, Pagalpanti, co-starring John Abraham, Ileana D'Cruz, Urvashi Rautela, Pulkit Samrat, Kriti Kharbanda to name a few.
