We did not have that type of technology: Ajay Devgn on why it took 30 years for him to make a film like 'Tanhaji - The Unsung Warrior'

The trailer of Om Raut's Tanhaji - The Unsung Warrior produced by Ajay Devgn Ffilms and T-Series was just launched with much fanfare by the actor and Bollywood’s action director Rohit Shetty. The trailer is as powerful and impactful as was expected from the star cast - Ajay Devgn, Saif Ali Khan and Kajol. Ajay plays Maratha general Tanaji Malusare in the 100th film of his career and his first biographical drama. While Ajay shines in the trailer, Saif as Uday Bhan, a Rajput working for Mughal emperor Aurangzeb, makes his presence felt as the antagonist. Kajol, too, makes a brief but memorable appearance, leaving her fans asking for more.

Today, at the trailer launch event, Ajay was present along with Rohit Shetty, co-star Saif, director Om, producer Bhushan and Sharad Kelker who plays the role of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Ajay was asked what took him 30 years to make this period drama. To this, the actor replied saying, "We used to discuss that we watch Hollywood films but we don't have that kind of technology. So, our dream was to someday make Hollywood level film which is at par and to say that see our budget is less than half of what you have but we have still made your level film. So, this was our dream because we had technicians and see if in this budget we can make this quality film then imagine how perfect our technicians are. So, this was our dream. So, we didn't have that type of technology but now we have. We have good technicians and we have great directors and all of them together have made it possible for us to fulfil this dream."

Ajay was also asked to which extent is the history followed in Tanhaji. He said, "apart from being careful, we also followed the history so that tomorrow if someone has a question to ask then we can say that this is a part of history."
