Scenario of Maharashtra politics witnesses edge-of-the-seat drama, filmmakers and producers show interest in bringing it on celluloid

The current political scenario in the state of Maharashtra is nothing short of drama and twisted, just like edge-of-the-seat thriller films. Last week, after an endless debate over who will preside over the position of a Chief Minister in Maharashtra, BJP's Devendra Fadnavis was appointed as one overnight after National Congress Party (NCP) member Ajit Pawar, surprisingly joined hands with the former party, who has been elected as the Government of India in the recently held General Elections. However, after the Supreme Court ordered a floor test in the Maharashtra Assembly within two days of Fadnavis being declared as the new CM, the latter, on Tuesday, resigned from the post. Immediately after this, ShivSena's Uddhav Thackeray was pronounced as the Chief Minister of a Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress government. Well, with this amount of drama taking place overnight, our Bollywood is eyeing to make films based on the topic. With socio-political narratives making a strong impact on the audience, several producers, as per reports of a leading daily, have fast-tracked their thoughts on a project on the scenario. For the same, they have approached the Indian Motion Pictures Producers' Association (IMPPA) to register titles. As per sources, titles like Chanakya Ka Khel, Saheb and others are in huge demand and big production houses like T-Series are in the race too.

"We have seen a huge demand for titles like Chanakya Ka Khel, Mahagatbandhan, Aghadi, Mahayuti and Saheb. The association has received at least five to 10 applications every day," says the representative, adding that several studios are trying their best to expedite the process. "The processing of a regular application takes about 45 to 50 days. But many top studios have paid a premium of Rs 3,000; in such cases, we have to respond within seven days," an IMPPA representative told the daily.
