The trailer of Kartik Aaryan, Bhumi Pednekar and Ananya Panday starrer Pati Patni Aur Woh was released recently. The film is a remake of the 1978 film starring Sanjeev Kumar, Vidya Sinha and Ranjeeta Kaur in the lead roles. However, after the trailer was out, a dialogue did not go down well with the audience as it cracks a joke on marital rape. The dialogue goes, "Biwi se sex maang lein toh hum bikhaari, Biwi ko sex na de toh hum atyachaari, Aur kisi tarah jugaad laga ke usse sex haasil kar lena toh balaatkari bhi hum hai." After getting a lot of flak for the same, the said scene was edited out of the film, as confirmed by producer of the film, Juno Chopra.
During the film promotions, Kartik opened up on the controversy and said, "When the trailer came, we realised that we shouldn't hurt anyone and should remove it immediately. Usually this doesn't happen in films. We took responsibility because it might have come across as something that wasn't our intention. We realised we shouldn't use that word (rape) at all so we have rectified it and made changes because we don't want to hurt people's sentiments."
He added that no one from the team realised how it could have been interpreted. "We didn't realise it when we were doing it. We had showed it to a lot of people, but no one had pointed it out. We didn't want to hurt anyone's sentiments. This isn't the topic of our film nor was this our intention," he added.
Pati Patni Aur Woh is scheduled to be released on December 6.
