On Mithali Raj's birthday, Taapsee Pannu confirms starring in her biopic titled 'Shaabash Mithu', aims to learn the cover drive

Taapsee Pannu, with back-to-back content-driven films, is on a winning and blockbuster spree. With Mission Mangal, Badla and Saand Ki Aankh performing exceptionally well at the box-office, the actress is riding high on success rightfully. Taapsee, who has established a strong foothold for herself not just down South but in Bollywood too, managed to remain in news in the recent past for being in talks to frontline Indian Women's Cricket team's captain Mithali Raj's biopic. While the Pink actress expressed her desire to put forth Mithali's journey on the silver screens, the makers of the biopic have finally roped her in. Well, yes.

On the occasion of Mithali's 37th birthday on Tuesday, Taapsee, on Instagram, confirmed being in the titular role in the film titled Shabaash Mithu. The film is directed by Rahul Dholakia and produced by Viacom18 StudiosSharing pictures from Mithali's birthday celebration, Taapsee expressed her joy. The actress further stated that it is an honour for her to portray the role of the captain. Assuring to make her proud, Taapsee told, she shall give it her all. While concluding, the actress added that she is all set to learn the cover drive.

Speaking of Mithali, she is the first player to score seven consecutive 50s in ODIs and holds the record for most half-centuries in WODIs. In June 2018, during the 2018 Women's Twenty20 Asia Cup, she became the first player from India to score 2000 runs in T20Is and was also named as the first woman cricketer to reach 2002 WT20I runs. In September 2019, she announced her retirement from T20Is to focus on ODI cricket. Mithali then became the first woman to complete 20 years in international cricket.

Talking about Taapsee, she will feature in the lead role in Anubhav Sinha's Thappad.
