Actress Rani Mukerji, who is gearing up for the release of Mardaani 2, is reprising the role of the fearless and committed Superintendent of Police, Shivani Shivaji Roy. In the film, she has been pitted against a very young yet dangerous villain who can be called pure evil. It focuses on the rise in violent crimes by juveniles in India and has definitely sparked a conversation on the threat this poses to young girls.
Now we hear that the film will be released without promotional songs as it would 'dilute film’s intent’. Talking about it, Rani said during a press conference, "We wanted to protect the sanctity of our message and not do any marketing gimmicks like shoot a promotional song just to get more conversions and more eyeballs. We felt this would be counterproductive to what we wanted to achieve."
"When at one hand we are trying to deliver a powerful message, we couldn't have recorded and shot a music video because that would have diluted the intent of the film," she further added. Reportedly, the makers do not wish promotional songs to cause any disturbance during the film.
Produced by Rani's husband and Yash Raj Films boss Aditya Chopra, Mardaani 2 is set to hit theatres on December 13.
