Many tell me they want a 'bahu' like me: Sonakshi Sinha on how the 'Dabangg' franchise has made her a hit with the family audience

Nine years and 29 films later, Sonakshi Sinha is back to reprising her role as Rajjo in the third instalment of hit franchise, Dabangg. As we all know that her co-star and family friend Salman Khan gave her the first big break, she revealed in a recent interview with a leading daily that she had “no choice” but to do the film. “Acting was never on the cards. One day, I was just told there was this film I was suited for and I was doing it. Nobody asked me, I literally had no choice,” she said.

While Salman has declared that Sonakshi will be a part of every Dabangg franchise, Sonakshi considers it a 'huge compliment'. Adding that her debut film has made her popular among the masses, particularly the family audience for her onscreen image, she said, “I couldn’t be luckier, my debut film made me a hit with the family audience. Many tell me they want a bahu like me. It’s embarrassing but sweet too." In fact, Sonakshi’s friends’ parents have also bought into her reel-life persona. “They (her friends) crib that parents hold me up as a role model without knowing how I really am,” she laughed.

Lastly, when asked what her father, veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha, think of her journey so far, Sonakshi replied by saying, "He's my biggest fan." Meanwhile, is there a pressure to tie the knot, the actress signed off by saying, “Find me a boy first. Once in a while the subject pops up, but then, my parents realise I’m happy and doing good work and have left it for me to decide.”

Dabangg 3, which also stars Kannada star Sudeep, Arbaaz Khan, Pramod Khanna and Dimple Kapadia, is slated for a December 20 release.
