In 1994, Prabhu Deva rose to fame with his unmatched moves in the song Mukkala Muqabla. The iconic track of the 90s, which was originally in Tamil and later was dubbed in Hindi, was from the film Kadhalan and was composed by the legendary, AR Rahman. Now as ahead of Street Dancer 3D starring Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor, the makers decided to recreate the Muqabla song and it would have been incomplete without Prabhudheva.
Witness the king of dance, Prabhudeva back with Muqabla, sung by Yash Narvekar and Parampara Thakur while Tanishk Bagchi has penned and composed it.
While the original song had some iconic moves by Prabhudheva, the stylish and funky recreated version has some amazing ones by the trio Prabhudheva, Shraddha and Varun. The crazy beats and cool formations add to the charm of the song. While Shraddha is seen matching steps with the two, the song is more about Varun aka Sahej's dance camaraderie with Prabhu. Nonetheless, it would not be wrong to say that even after 25 years, the choreographer-turned-director hasn't lost his magic touch and the reprised version of Muqabla is proof enough.
In fact, director Remo D'Souza recently told a daily that the song was conceptualised as a tribute to the dance icon. "Since Prabhu sir was a part of the film, we wanted a song dedicated to him. Bhushanji [Kumar, producer] told me that he had the rights to the Muqabla song. So, I thought it would be the best way to pay our tribute to the man who has been instrumental in changing the dancing scene in India. I never imagined that I will set up dance sequences for Prabhu sir."
Street Dancer 3D is slated to release on 24 January 2020.
