30 Years Of Maine Pyar Kiya: Bhagyashree believes Alia Bhatt can do justice to Suman in film's modern day remake; Salman Khan expresses gratitude for unconditional love

Salman Khan's and Bhagyashree's Maine Pyar Kiya is undoubtedly one of the cult classics of Indian cinema. Marking the debut of Bhagyashree in films and Salman's first full-fledged hero role, the directorial debut of Sooraj Barjatya holds a special importance in every person's heart till date. As time proceeded, the Rajshri Productions' film clocked 30 years since release. Talking about Maine Pyar Kiya, Salman, who immortalised the character of Prem, during an interview with a leading daily, thanked the audience and his fans for the love and support. Adding further, he told that his journey was everything amazing and he gets motivated to work hard with fans' unconditional support.

"A big thank you to the people who have made me who I am, my fans and well-wishers alike. The most important thing in an actor's life is the journey and my journey has been nothing short of amazing. I have seen so much and met so many brilliant people along the way who have taught me so much and carved me into the person that I am. My motivation to work has always been the fans who give me unconditional love and it is because of them that I am always striving to deliver my best to them," Salman told.

On the other hand, Bhagyashree, who added her Midas touch to the role of Suman, spoke about Maine Pyar Kiya's remake in the future. The actress told that she isn't in favour of remakes as they don't do justice to the original. Adding further, she said if in future it is made, she would like to see Alia Bhatt step into her shoes. Confessing that she has a soft corner for the dimpled actress, Bhagyashree added that Alia emotes innocence with her eyes and that is how she visualises Suman.

"Honestly, I am not a big fan of remakes and feel some things need to be left untouched. There is a lot of pressure on those making and performing it, to be compared constantly with what has been declared a cult film, like Sholay (1975), Don (1978) or Mughal-e-Azam (1960). I have a soft heart for Alia Bhatt, she’s fantastic and portrays innocence through her eyes, and that’s the way I look at Suman," Bhagyashree added.

Speaking of Maine Pyar Kiya, the film revolved around Prem and Suman who belong to families with different ideologies. When the two realised their love for each other, Suman's father gives Prem a second chance to prove himself. Apart from Salman and Bhagyashree, the film starred Alok Nath, Reema Lagoo, Mohnish Bahl and Laxmikant Berde.
