The genre of horror-comedy in Bollywood, in the last couple of years, has found stable ground. With more filmmakers and producers exploring the genre, the audience is in for a thrill fest packed with dashes of humour. After the unprecedented success of his horror-comedy Stree, producer Dinesh Vijan is back to the genre with RoohiAfza. Starring Janhvi Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao and Varun Sharma, the film revolves around twin sisters and is weaved around a spooky tale. Earlier titled Rooh Afza, the makers changed the title to RoohiAfza, to avoid controversy with a century-old rose concentrate. However, that's not the end of the string of title changes.
On Thursday, the makers of RoohiAfza, in a video that announced the film releases they have in the lineup for 2020, it was informed that the horror-comedy is now titled Roohi Afzana. Roohi Afzana are also the character names of Janhvi, who is playing a double role.
Apart from the multiple title changes, this Janhvi, Rajkummar and Varun starrer is postponed by nearly a month. It was initially stated that the film will release on March 20, 2020, but now, it will clash with Ayushmann Khurrana's-Amitabh Bachchan's Gulabo Sitabo on April 17, 2020. However, reports suggest that the makers are once again planning to toy with the dates to give Roohi Afzana a solo release. Roohi Afzana is directed by Hardik Mehta while Dinesh and Mrighdeep Singh Lamba will be producing it under Maddock Films' banner.
