'Comfortable in a saree, I love doing tricky stuff,' says Akshay Kumar on getting into the character of a transgender in 'Laxmmi Bomb'

Ever since the upcoming horror comedy film Laxmmi Bomb, starring Akshay Kumar and Kiara Advani in the lead roles was announced, the excitement among cine enthusiasts and fans of the actors shot to the highest peak. The official Hindi remake of the Tamil blockbuster KanchanaLaxmmi Bomb is directed by Raghava Lawrence, who starred and helmed the original four-film franchise. Now, after Akshay's first look as transgender was shared on the occasion of Navratri, fans can't get enough of the actor's versatility and ability to slip into any character like a chameleon. Talking about his role in the horror-comedy in an interview with a leading daily, Akshay told he is comfortable in a saree and had no problem shooting in it as he loves doing tricky things. Revealing that the character was one of his toughest, he had to sink deep into the skin of it and get the body language right. For the unversed, Akshay in Laxmmi Bomb gets possessed by a transgender ghost, who is out on an act of revenge against those who murdered her. 

"I am comfortable in a saree and had no problem shooting in it. I love doing tricky stuff. It is one of the most difficult characters I have played. I had to internalise the character and get the body language right," Akshay told.

The 52-year-old actor who is currently riding high on the success of his recently released film Good Newwz, further spoke about the controversy between Raghava and producer Shabina Khan that hit the project a few days into its first schedule. For those caught unaware, Raghava had stepped down from the position of the director after certain creative differences with the makers. However, he returned to the film soon after. Akshay, talking about the same, said he has no idea what happened between them. But the two spoke and sorted out the difference

"I have no idea what happened. Shabina and Raghava spoke and sorted out the issue. Raghava is one of the finest directors when it comes to making a horror film. I respect him as a filmmaker. We started shooting after the episode, and since then, nobody has even mentioned the incident. It's all good among us," Akshay added.

The film is scheduled to release on Eid 2020. Laxmmi Bomb is being directed by Raghava and produced by Cape of Good Films, Fox Star Studios, Tusshar Kapoor and Shabina Khan.
