'83: 'You made us proud. Now it’s our turn,' says Ranveer Singh as he wishes Kapil Dev on his 61st birthday

Ranveer Singh's upcoming sports biopic titled '83 has been the most anticipated film of 2020. Based on the historic win of the Indian cricket team against West Indies in 1983 under the captaincy of Kapil Dev, the project finds itself amidst extreme fanfare much before its release. Ever since the first look of the actor from the project came upfront, fans have been waiting to watch the magic unveil on screen. Now, as Kapil aka 'Haryana Hurricane' turned 61 on Monday, Ranveer, who will be playing his reel self, shared some unseen pictures with the former during their preparations. Well, with these pictures that draw resemblance between Ranveer and Kapil, the excitement has surely shot up high.

“Happy Birthday, Legend! Thank you for showing us the way You made us proud. Now it’s our turn...," Ranveer wrote while sharing the pictures.

Not just this, the makers of '83 dedicated a special video to Kapil. The video has Kapil reminiscing about the match at Turnbridge Wells Stadium following which he briefly spoke about how it felt to play and create history at the stadium where he was commemorated on July 10, 2019. The cricketer was overwhelmed with the trip down memory lane as he was being commemorated with everyone cheering for him. Kapil is also seen recreated the iconic Natraj shot at the stadium. 

'83 traces the historic victory of the Indian cricket team during the 1983 world cup. The Kabir directorial is being presented by Anil Dhirubhai Ambani’s Reliance Entertainment. '83 also features Tahir Raj Bhasin, Ammy Virk, Hardy Sandhu, and Chirag Patil among others. Touted to be the biggest sports film of all time, ‘83 is being co-produced by Madhu Mantena, Sajid Nadiadwala and Reliance Entertainment. The film is scheduled to release on April 10, 2020.
