Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan express disgust over violence against students and professors from JNU

It was barely a few days after the country, especially the Capital-Delhi was burning with violent unrest caused after students of educational institutes silently protested against the Citizenship Amendment Act,  reports and visuals of students and professors of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) being beaten up brutally did the rounds of media. Although the number of the injured in the various clashes which occurred throughout the day was not yet known, at least 20 students were admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences with multiple injuries, including the Students Union President Aishe Ghosh, who was reportedly hit over the eye with an iron rod. Upon seeing the horrendous act of violence against students, professors and other members inside JNU by an unidentified mob, the nation was left in disgust. Celebrities and public figures took the aid of social media to condemn the act. Joining them were Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt.

Alia and Varun, on their Instagram stories, expressed their disgust on the violence. Alia, in her story, told that the ideology that seeks to divide, oppress and promote violence should be opposed. She further said a 'human solution' should be found out to solve complex problems. On the other hand, Varun stated the students do not deserve this kind of treatment and the Police and Government to take strong action as early as possible.
