It isn't an unknown fact that Kashmiri Pandits, nearly thirty years ago, had to relocate from the Kashmir Valley to another parts of India. Now, unfolding the untold story of Kashmiri Pandits and their apathy, Vidhu Vinod Chopra is back to films with Shikara. The film revolves around Shiv Kumar Dhar and Shanti Dhar aka Aadil Khan and Sadia. Amidst political and communal unrest, their soft and tender love story will cockle your heart. In the past, the ace filmmaker told the tale of Kashmir in Mission Kashmir starring Hrithik Roshan, Sanjay Dutt and Preity Zinta wherein the premise revolved around the increase in militancy in the valley.
The trailer of the film begins with Shiv and Shanti, a couple in their abode where just in a moment, the discomfort starts to brew. Soon, they notice a house on fire, leaving them scared and tensed. Moments later, Kashmiri Pandits receive threats and are forced to leave the valley. Shocked and unable to digest the fact that they are no longer secure in their state, they live the life of refugees amidst political tension.
Shikara marks the debut of Aadil and Sadia. Vidhu, who is back on the director's set dedicated the film to his mother who has been through the struggle and tough time. Paying a tribute to all Kashmiri Pandits, Vidhu, with the film, gives a glimpse into the glory and beauty of Kashmir. Presented by Fox Star Studios. Produced by Vinod Chopra Productions and co-produced by Fox star studios, Shikara will release on February 7, 2020.
