It is not clear who has done what, so I don't know how to comment: Ajay Devgn on JNU violence

On Sunday, a masked mob had entered JNU campus in Delhi and assaulted students and teachers, injuring at least 35 people, including JNU Students' Union president Aishe Ghosh. Following that, several Bollywood personalities have come out on the streets here and held peaceful protests against the attack on students. In fact, stars like Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt and others have also condemned the attack on social media. Not to forget, Deepika Padukone visited the JNU campus on Tuesday to extend solidarity towards the students following Sunday's violence.

Now joining the bandwagon is none other than actor Ajay Devgn. However, he spoke neither against or in favour of the attacks as he is not clear about what transpired inside the university campus as news reports gave conflicting accounts. "I have been watching the news since morning. It's very conflicting. Till now, we don't know who has done what. So till the time, this is not clear, I don't know how to comment. It is all very sad what's happening," Ajay told a news agency. Nonetheless, he maintained that violence isn't the answer as it is just harming our country.

Furthemore, when prodded whether staying silent on issues signified complicity, Ajay pointed out that he does not want to add to 'confusion' and stars needed to know first. "When we say something, it is taken seriously, either in a good way or a bad way. But till you are not well informed, you have no right to speak, I would say. We cannot add to the confusion. We need to know first. "Why it is happening or who is doing it? What is the agenda behind it? Till we don't know we have to keep quiet. If people think that it is complicit, then it is stupid. We cannot add fuel to fire," he maintained.

Ajay is currently busy promoting his next Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, which also features Saif Ali Khan and Kajol. The Om Raut directorial is scheduled to release on January 10.
