Deepika Padukone's Chhapaak in trouble once again, Laxmi Agarwal's lawyer Aparna Bhat to take legal action for not crediting her in the film

Deepika Padukone's and Vikrant Massey's Chhapaak has managed to make headlines for the right as well as wrong reasons. This Meghna Gulzar directorial that draws inspiration from the story of Laxmi Agarwal, an acid attack survivor, has yet again landed into troubled waters. According to a Facebook post written by Laxmi's lawyer, Aparna Bhat, she will be dragging the film to court. In the post, she mentioned that she is 'deeply disturbed' for the fact that the makers didn't give her any credit in Chhapaak

The lawyer further added that in order to protect her integrity and preserve her integrity, she is compelled to take legal action. In another post, Aparna stated that she can't match the power of Chhapaak's producer that is Deepika herself but she won't keep quiet.

A couple of days before this legal incident, Chhapaak faced an obstacle in the form of writer Rakesh Bharti's copyright violation charges. He filed a petition at the Bombay High Court demanding a stay on the film's release until they credit him with the story, which apparently resembles his project titled Black Day. However, in response to this charge, Meghna filed an affidavit and stated true events and incidents are not entitled to copyright protection.

Produced by Fox Star Studios, Deepika’s KA Production, Meghna and Govind Singh Sandhu’s Mriga Films, written by Atika Chohan and Meghna, Chhapaak is a tale of an acid attack survivor who battles against the social evildoers. The film is scheduled to release on January 10, 2020.
