Netflix on Thursday added four Indian films to its lineup on 2020. Adding to the excitement, the projects will be helmed by ace directors Anurag Kashyap, Vikramaditya Motwane, Karan Johar and Dibakar Banerjee. Sharing the same, Netflix posted on its official handle, "It’s only January but this year already feels like a 20/20. We’re pleased to announce 4 more Indian films coming your way."
The Anurag Kashyap directorial, titled Choked, will feature Saiyami Kher and Roshan Mathew.
AK vs AK, directed by Vikramaditya Motwane, will star Anil Kapoor and Anurag Kashyap. For the unversed, in 2017, Vikramaditya was making a film called SK v/s AK with Shahid Kapoor and Anurag starring in the lead. However, the project later got shelved and the filmmaker later revived it as AK v/s AK. As PeepingMoon.com had exclusively learnt, the film revolves around a Bollywood star's tryst with stardom and highlights the ugly journey of a director and actor. Anurag will be seen playing a filmmaker whose big-budget film miserably flops at the box office while Anil will be essaying the character of a superstar whom Anurag approaches to star in his next film post his previous box office dud.
Karan Johar will make a yet to be titled anthology of 4 films his digital production banner Dharmatic, starring a cast that includes Shefali Shah, Manav Kaul, Nusrat Bharucha, Fatima Sana Shaikh, and Jaideep Ahlawat.
Last but not the least, Freedom, directed by Dibakar Banerjee, will see Naseeruddin Shah, Manisha Koirala, Huma Qureshi, Kalki Koechlin, Divya Dutta, Zoya Husain, Shashank Arora, and Neeraj Kabi.
Anurag, Karan and Dibakar have previously also helmed segments in Netflix anthologies – Lust Stories and Ghost Stories.
