Ranveer Singh’s upcoming sports drama ’83 is one of the most-anticipated films of the year. The film directed by Kabir Khan is based on the Indian Cricket Team’s 1983 World Cup win. Ranveer is essaying the role of team’s captain Kapil Dev and while every day he is unveiling one character poster after another of his Playing XI, reportedly the makers have a grand event in mind for poster launch.
As reported by a leading daily, Kabir Khan is planning to bring his reel Playing XI to meet the real Playing XI from the 1983’s World Cup winning team at an event in Hyderabad. The event will be held in Hyderabad because the film is not only releasing in Hindi but also in two other languages i.e. Tamil and Telugu. The film’s teaser and trailer launch are scheduled to take place in Mumbai but for the big poster reveal, the reel actors will meet their real-life counterparts at the event.
The daily quoted a source, “The Hyderabad gig will see Dev, Madan Lal, Sunil Gavaskar, Mohinder Amarnath, Balwinder Sandhu, Krishnamachari Srikkanth, Syed Kirmani, Sandeep Patil, Dilip Vengsarkar, Ravi Shastri, Kirti Azad, Yashpal Sharma, Roger Binny, Sunil Valson, Farokh Engineer and the team's manager, PR Man Singh in attendance. Standing shoulder-to-shoulder with them will be the actors who are bringing their story to celluloid, including Pankaj Tripathi, Boman Irani, Saqib Saleem and Tahir Raj Bhasin, among others.”
Deepika Padukone also stars in the film essaying the role of Kapil Dev’s wife Romi Dev. She is also a co-producer on the film and is reported to attend the event as well. The film is slated to release on April 10, 2020.
