Shabana Azmi, on Saturday, met with a fatal car accident en route Mumbai from Khandala on Mumbai-Pune Expressway. The veteran actress who celebrated the 75th birthday of her husband Javed Akhtar a day before the incident with joy, sustained grave injuries. With the help of locals and men in uniform, she was taken to MGM Hospital in Navi Mumbai and was later shifted to Kokilaben Ambani Hospital in Andheri. Now, two days later, as she is undergoing treatment under the guidance of Dr. Yuvaraja, her husband Javed, in a conversation with an entertainment portal, informed that Shabana is still in the ICU but the scan reports have come out to be positive, which means there is nothing to worry as of now. 

"Don’t worry. She is in the ICU but all the scan reports are positive. It seems there’s no serious harm done," Javed told.

Boney Kapoor, who paid a visit to the veteran actress at the hospital on Sunday, told a leading daily that doctors stated that there is nothing alarming. He further added that nobody apart from Javed sahab, Baba Azmi (brother) and Tanvi Azmi (sister-in-law) is allowed inside the ICU. The producer, on the basis of what Javed sahab told a well-wisher, said Shabana is coherent and is recognising people, even talking to them. She is currently under observation to rule out any possible danger, Boney continued. 

"According to doctors, there is nothing alarming. She’s sedated as there is some pain but everything is fine. Except Javed saab, Baba and Tanvi nobody is allowed into the ICU,” Boney told. “Shabanaji is coherent, talking normally, recognising people. For now, she is under observation and the doctors are making sure there is no internal injury and that potential dangers are ruled out. She is a fighter and will come out of it,” Boney added.

Satish Kaushik, who was also at the hospital on Sunday, confirmed that Shabana is recovering and the family is now relieved. “Shabanaji’s condition is improving and her reports are normal. I met Javed saab too and everyone is relieved. God is kind,” Satish said.

Speaking of the accident, an FIR against Shabana's driver has been filed by the driver of the truck with whom the actress's car collided with.
