Aditya Roy Kapur-Disha Patani starrer 'Malang' gets ‘A’ certificate from CBFC; board directs makers to remove drug-related terms

Directed by Mohit Suri, Malang stars Anil Kapoor, Aditya Roy Kapur, Disha Patani and Kunal Khemu in lead roles. The recently launched two minute, 45-second trailer introduced each character as a compulsive killer, each with a different reason and dark reality, and each deadlier than the other. It is scheduled to release on February 7.

Now just a week prior to that, the Censor Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has reportedly given an ‘A’ certificate and has directed the makers to remove drug-related terms. According to a daily, the board didn’t have any objection to the intimate scenes between Disha and Aditya. However, it has asked to cut mentions of words like ‘joint’, ‘pot’ and ‘ecstasy’. In fact, Mohit has also been reportedly asked to run 6 anti-drug tickers, two of which have a rhyming message.

Nonetheless, the only visual cut in the film is of the religious symbol which is shown twice in a building shot. Apart from that, the makers have been asked to add a disclaimer to state the characters of the film do not support atrocities and violence committed on women.

Malang is co-produced by Bhushan Kumar of T-Series, Luv Ranjan Films and Northern Lights Entertainment's Jay Shewakraman.
