As we said it! Akshay Kumar to star in a 'special' role opposite Sara Ali Khan and Dhanush in Aanand L Rai's 'Atrangi Re'

Akshay Kumar, with a number of projects in the pipeline, is on a film signing spree. With multiple releases a year, it seems there is no stopping for the superstar. PeepingMoon.com, in an exclusive piece, dated January 12, 2020, informed its readers that the Mission Mangal actor has signed the dotted lines for Aanand L Rai's upcoming film starring Sara Ali Khan and Dhanush titled Atrangi Re. Now, proving us right yet again, the makers of this film confirmed Akshay's, Sara's and Dhanush's maiden collaboration. Akshay, while talking to a leading daily for Atrangi Re, told that he has always admired Aanand's work and said yes to the film within 10 minutes of the narration. He further added that his teaming with Sara and Dhanush is indeed atrangi and revealed that his heart couldn't let the film go from his repertoire.

"I am thrilled to be working with Aanand L Rai, as I have always admired the way he has showcased his stories. When he narrated the film to me, I said ‘yes’ within 10 minutes. It is a challenging character to play, but at the same time, it is such a special role that my heart just couldn’t say ‘no’ to it. I will remember it for the rest of my life. My combination with Sara and Dhanush truly makes it true to its title — Atrangi! And I know that Aanand, in his special and simple way of storytelling, will only add magic to it. As I said, my heart just couldn’t let this one go," Akshay told.

Aanand, in the same interview, praised Akshay and said he has been pushing the envelope with challenging roles. Calling his character a special one, the filmmaker added that fans will love the trio and their pairing. "It takes a secure actor like Akshay to do such a role. He has been pushing the envelope and is always up for challenges. Their pairing is interesting and exciting. Fans will love the freshness these two will bring on the big screen," Aanand added.

Atrangi Re will be backed by Bhushan Kumar under his banner T-Series and co-produced by Aanand's Colour Yellow Productions and Cape Of Good Films. The music will be by A R Rahman and the film will be written by Himanshu Sharma. Atrangi Re is scheduled to go on floors on March 1, 2020.
