'Kabir Singh, in your face!' says Twitter on Taapsee Pannu's Thappad trailer while some continue hailing the Shahid Kapoor starrer

Taapsee Pannu, after a successful year at the box-office with Badla and Saand Ki Aankh in 2019, is all set to tell a hard-hitting and thought-provoking tale with Anubhav Sinha's Thappad. The film which revolves around violence against women and their take on relationships is one of the most important projects of the year which is awaited with bated breath. Now, as the film is less than a month away from its theatrical release, the makers, today(January 31) shared the official trailer. While the audience not just noticed Taapsee's fantastic acting but also the sharp dig the makers have taken on 2019's second-highest grosser Kabir Singh starring Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani.

The trailer of Thappad incorporated a number of dialogues wherein the makers urge that slapping your beloved isn't just itni si baat. So much so, one of the characters is heard saying thappad is an 'expression of love', which was exactly the statement made by Kabir Singh's director Sandeep Reddy Vanga in an interview. Soon after the trailer was released, Twitter was quick to extend support to this Taapsee starrer for slamming Kabir Singh.

However, a section of Twitter continued hailing Kabir Singh and said it is accounting to the publicity of Thappad.

Thappad, apart from Taapsee, stars Pavail Gulati, Dia Mirza, Ratna Pathak Shah, Tanvi Azmi, Geetika Vidya, Maya Sarao, Naila Grewal, Kumud Mishra and Gracy Goswami in the lead roles. Thappad is produced by Bhushan Kumar's T-Series along with Anubhav and Benaras Mediaworks. It is scheduled to release on February 28, 2020. 

Kabir Singh, starred Shahid as a brilliant surgeon who becomes a self-destructive lover after his girlfriend Preeti, gets married off to someone else. Directed by Sandeep, the film released on June 21, 2019.
