The Aam Aadmi Party led by Arvind Kejriwal, on Tuesday, won the Delhi elections for the third time with a sweeping majority of 62 seats. Soon after the news came out in the public, social media users have been sharing their opinion on various platforms. Similarly, Chetan Bhagat who is an active voice when it comes to politics, tweeted that Aam Aadmi Party, which is said to be liberal in its approach, has its leader chanting Hanuman Chalisa. He further said that liberal purists wouldn't approve this. Adding that had he listened to them, he wouldn't have won the elections.
Soon after Chetan commented on AAP's win on Twitter, Sonam Kapoor Ahuja responded by saying one person's religious beliefs don't impact their political leanings. The actress then added that her husband Anand Ahuja chants the Hanuman Chalisa daily and she herself is a practicing Hindu and a liberal too. Taking the Twitter war of words ahead, the author replied to Sonam and told certain purists find the display of religion in politics wrong.
AAP learnt to be liberal, but not so much to fall into the trap of giving constant liberal agniparikshas.
Their leader read Hanuman Chalisa. Liberal purists would have said this is wrong.
But he won. If he listened to liberal purists he never would.

Chetan my husband chants the hanuman chalisa everyday. Your choice of faith isn’t necessarily your political leaning. I don’t understand the logic and meaning of your tweet. I’m a practicing Hindu and I’m definitely a liberal.

That great Sonam. You are definitely a liberal too. However, there are some purists who feel ANY religious display in politics in wrong. It is those who won't approve. They may have a point even. However, it is an unwinnable stance.

Workwise, Sonam was last seen in The Zoya Factor co-starring Dulquer Salmaan. The film released on September 20, 2019, and failed to work its magic at the box-office. Chetan, in 2019, released his new book titled India Positive.
