In last week of February, Ali Abbas Zafar had announced the remake of the iconic Hindi film, Mr India. He had tweeted, "Excited to partner with @ZeeStudios_ for an epic trilogy #MrIndia! It is a huge responsibility to carry forward an iconic character loved by everyone." Released in 1987, the film featured Anil Kapoor and late Sridevi in the lead roles. However, ever since Ali's Mr India was announced, it has managed to stir a controversy an how.

While Sonam Kapoor avered that her father Anil didn't even know the film was being remade, Shekhar Kapur, director of the 1987 original, slammed the makers of an upcoming remake trilogy for not acknowledging him. Not just that, it was the turn of writer-lyricist Javed Akhtar to join next. Javed contended recently that the film is actually his idea and that he had given it to Kapur. For the unversed, Javed co-wrote Mr India with Salim Khan and also penned the lyrics for Laxmikant-Pyarelal in the film.
Now choreographer-turned-director Ahmed Khan, who featured as a child artiste in Mr India, was asked what does he think of the reboot, to which he said, “I can still play the child actor, there is no major change in me apart from the fact that I have grown by three inches,” adding, "It’s an iconic film, but I don’t know how they will get the kids and the feel right." Well, we certainly agree with Ahmed on this one.
Meanwhile, he is currently awaiting the third instalment of the action franchise, which releases on March 6 and stars Tiger Shroff and Shraddha Kapoor.
