'Bandar kitna bhi buddha ho jaaye, gulatiyan maarna nahi bhoolta,' quips Akshay Kumar on performing daredevilry stunts in Rohit Shetty's 'Sooryavanshi'

After much wait and anticipation, the power-packed trailer of Rohit Shetty's Sooryavanshi starring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif was released at a grand event in the city. While the film marks the reunion of Akshay and Katrina, it will be the fourth edition of the cop universe established by Rohit. After Ajay Devgn's Singham and Ranveer Singh's Simmba, Akshay's Sooryavanshi is the latest cop we shall meet in theatres. Now, with the trailer launch, the anticipation and excitement to watch Akshay in his daredevilry avatar has shot up high and why not. The 52-year-old superstar, who is associated with content-driven and thought-provoking films, is back into the action spectrum. Talking about returning to the stunt space, Akshay, in an interview with a leading daily, told that he enjoys performing stunts and prefers to execute them without computer graphics. He said that in Sooryavanshi, the action sequences are performed without special effects and they are similar to the ones he used to do in his late 20s. The superstar further added that Rohit and he worked on each stunt and scene in detail. For the unversed, Akshay plays the role of Anti-Terrorism Squad Chief, Veer Sooryavanshi.

"Yaar, bandar kitna bhi buddha ho jaaye, gulatiyan maarna nahi bhoolta, aur na hi chhodta hai. Woh kalabaaziyan toh karega hi na. Honestly, I enjoy performing stunts and it makes me happy to be able to pull it off without the use of computer graphics. When you see the trailer today, you will realise that I’ve performed the kind of stunts that I used to do when I was in my late 20s and early 30s. I’ve used the techniques that I had learnt early on in my life. For instance, we have performed a chopper stunt, which I had first attempted when I was 28 years old. I’m glad that I could do it all over again at 52, with the same focus and agility. I’ve often heard the audience complain about the quality of VFX in action scenes and so, Rohit and I ensured that we don’t use VFX in at least 90 percent of action sequences. However, I’ve realised that it’s safer to do stunts now. Rohit and his team are extremely vigilant and careful. They had worked out every scene in detail, including the action sequences," Akshay told.
