Kajol shares her opinion on the existence of pay parity and the impact of the MeToo movement at Devi's press conference

Ever since Kajol's short film debut titled Devi was announced, her fans can't keep calm. The actress who was seen in a brief yet crucial role in her husband Ajay Devgn's Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, will be seen in a powerful character in Devi. The short film is said to revolve around the tale of nine oppressed women who belong to different strata of society and face the dilemma of sharing their space and stories in the social circumstance wherein tragedy and pain is normal. Apart from orbiting around a poignant narrative, the film will celebrate women power. Now, after much wait, the makers dropped in the film on social media platforms. Before the launch of the film, the team of Devi including Kajol, Shruti Hassan, Neena Kulkarni, Mukta Barve, Sandhya Mhatre, Rama Joshi, Shivani Raghuvanshi and Yashaswini Dayama attended its event in the city today.

During the event, Kajol spoke about pay parity. The actress said that not just in Bollywood, but across the society, inequality exists. She added that one must raise voice and also ensure that their family and kin understand its importance.

Kajol, during the event, also touched upon the topic of the MeToo movement. She said that sexual harassment doesn't just prevail on film sets. She further added that the impact of the MeToo movement was so strong that men took seven steps back. 

Devi is directed and written by debutante Priyanka Banerjee. It is produced by Niranjan Iyengar's and Ryan Stephen's Electric Apples Entertainment.
