For me, doing stunts is like going to Disneyland; I love it: Akshay Kumar on getting back to action with Rohit Shetty's 'Sooryavanshi'

Akshay Kumar plays the title role of Deputy Commissioner of Police, Veer Sooryavanshi, who heads the Anti-Terrorism Squad in Rohit Shetty's Sooryavanshi. The actor gets back to action with the upcoming film and when asked about returning to the genre, Akshay said in an interview, "For me, doing stunts is like going to Disneyland; I love it. And it’s all real action. It’s not the VFX guy in front of the computer making the actor a hero, but the actor, who is working towards becoming one. I can do action for another fourfive years. Then, my age will tell me to back off," adding, "I lost eight-nine kg, as I needed to look like an ATS (Anti Terror Squad) officer."

The film is the fourth installment of Rohit's cop universe after two Singham films and Simmba. The cast also features Gulshan Grover, Abhimanyu Singh, Niharica Raizada, Jackie Shroff, Sikandar Kher, Nikitin Dheer and Vivan Bhatena. Apart from them, Singham Ajay Devgn and Simmba Ranveer Singh also play small parts in the film. When prodded about Rohit's cop universe, Akshay stated, "It’s unusual as three actors don’t come under one roof on everyday basis. Singham was the first film. Then Rohit introduced Sooryavanshi in Simmba. Now, they come together with me towards the end of my film. Hats off to Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh for agreeing to play small parts in this film."

Furthermore, when Akshay was asked if films are a buildup to a grand finale, Akshay revealed, "It is India’s Avengers and is very successful. I feel a lot of pressure to ensure that Sooryavanshi does not break the chain towards building a successful cop universe. If this one doesn’t run, the chain will be broken."

Sooryavanshi is scheduled to release in India on March 24. Presented by Reliance Entertainment, the film is produced by Shetty, Karan Johar, Aruna Bhatia, Hiroo Yash Johar and Apoorva Mehta.
