Mrunal Thakur roped in to play a cop in Sidharth Malhotra's Hindi remake of Tamil superhit 'Thadam'

It is not unknown that Sidharth Malhotra is all set to get into the action spectrum yet again with the Hindi remake of Tamil superhit Thadam. And now we hear that the actor has found his leading lady in Mrunal Thakur. A leading daily confirmed this morning that the actor has been roped in to play a cop in the remake of Tamil actioner. The yet-untitled film features Sidharth in a double role.

A source close to the development reveals, "The makers recently sat down for a narration with Mrunal, who was excited by the film's plot. She recently wrapped up the shooting of Aankh Micholi, and has now allotted her dates in May and June to the thriller. In keeping with her character of a police officer, Mrunal will be required to perform action in the film."

Confirming the development, producer Murad Khetani said, "Mrunal will be seen as a cop in the film, and is not the love interest of Sidharth. We will begin shooting by May-end and the film will be widely shot in Delhi."

For the unversed, Thadam, written and directed by Magizh Thirumeni, released in 2019 and starred Arun Vijay in a double role. The film revolved around a murder which led to a cat and mouse chase between the identical-looking characters and the cops in-charge.
