After tagging Kangana Ranaut's 'Manikarnika' as 'flop', Ahmed Khan calls her female 'Baaghi'; filmmaker expresses desire to work with her

Ahmed Khan came under the radar of Kangana Ranaut and her sister cum spokesperson Rangoli Chandel after calling the actress's directorial debut Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi 'flop'. The filmmaker who is currently making noise at the box-office with his recently released Baaghi 3 went on to also claim that her next film Dhaakad has been shelved owing to the historic drama's failure. Soon after the interview that carried this statement went viral, Rangoli, on Twitter, lashed at him with a series of tweets. Ahmed, on facing backlash to a severe extent, reportedly apologised to Kangana. Now, in a recent interview with the same publication, the choreographer-turned-director called Kangana the female Baaghi and Bollywood's hero. He went on to say that he liked Dhaakad's teaser and called the actress brilliant. Ahmed added that if Kangana approves his script, she is on his wishlist.

“Kangana is the female Baaghi, the hero of Bollywood, and the only girl who can pull off an action film. I really liked Dhaakad teaser and got gooseflesh while watching it. She is a brilliant and powerful actor. If she approves my script, I will definitely work with her,” Ahmed told.

For the unversed, Ahmed in the interview said, “Kangana Ranaut tried to gain success through a film like Manikarnika, but it was made at a very large scale and all that money was wasted. The makers had huge losses. What happened after that? There were five other films being planned on Rani Jhansi but they were all shelved in view of the poor performance of Manikarnika. Even Kangana had announced a film, Dhaakad and a teaser was also launched for the movie. However, Dhaakad was shelved as Manikarnika was a flop.”

According to the makers, Dhaakad will go on floors in June. It is directed by Razneesh Razy Ghai and produced by Sohail Maklai. Workwise, Kangana is shooting for former Tamil Nadu CM late J Jayalalithaa's biopic titled Thalaivi. It is scheduled to release on June 26, 2020.
