The Coronavirus outbreak has united the world in a way that is unprecedented. Almost the entire world has come to a halt. Indian Government has also sent out advisories and precautionary measures to combat COVID-19. Probably the first time the Indian film industry has stopped production and shooting and everyone is staying home amid the coronavirus outbreak. After Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions announced a halt on its production, Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms has also taken a stand and issued a statement on the coronavirus outbreak.
Ekta took to social media to share that for the first time all administrative and production work across Balaji Telefilms LTD, Balaji Motion Pictures LTD and ALTBalaji stands suspended till further notice. She wrote on Instagram, “Amongst many 1st times,we have shut office for d 1st time (teams worked during d floods,terror attacks,bank holidays)! But today is not abt spirit but safety!Even temples churches gurudwaras n mosques r on a break!All we have is prayers humanity n each other! Stay safe team BALAJI.”
Meanwhile, several celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra, Katrina Kaif and others have requested the people to take precautionary measures against the deadly coronavirus and stay safe. Several Hollywood films and shows have also halted production in the wake of the pandemic.
