Shri Rajput Karni Sena, which protested against screening of Bollywood film Padmaavat over 'tampering' of historical facts, recently blocked the shooting of film Prithviraj. The film, being produced under the Yashraj banner and with Akshay Kumar playing the lead, was being shot near Jamwaramgarh in the Jaipur district. The film is being directed by Chandra Prakash Dwivedi.
Reportedly, the Karni Sena activists reached the spot and told the director that the film shoot would be allowed only after vetting of the script by historians. The protest was led by Karni Sena's national president Mahipal Singh Makrana. While Akshay Kumar completed his schedule by Holi and left from Mumbai, the other crew were there for the remaining shoot.
A video of the protest, which has gone viral, shows Mahipal Singh Makrana having a discussion with Chandra Prakash Dwivedi and telling him that he has love for Akshay Kumar’s ‘nationalistic’ activities. He politely added, "We are a Censor Board in ourselves. We’ll judge history by ourselves. We have our own historians. Till you don’t satisfy us, in a day or two, you won’t be allowed to shoot. If you still go ahead, I, Mahipal Singh Makrana, national president of Sri Rajput Karni Sena, guarantee you that we won’t allow the film’s shoot anywhere in the country. We respect Akshay Kumar ji and hence, we have come here peacefully. We respect him because he has done so much for the pension of the widows of martyred soldiers, with amount running into lakhs. And he’s a deshpremi and a rashtrapremi. Even the films that he does have a nationalistic message.”
The film stars Manushi Chillar as the female lead.
