Kanika Kapoor is the first Bollywood celebrity to test positive for COVID-19, the disease caused by coronavirus. The singer was tested positive in Lucknow after she landed in India from London. However, things did not stop there as she attended a string of parties in Uttar Pradesh and supposedly brought a whole load of people under scrutiny including former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, her son Dushyant Singh, UP Health Minister Jai Pratap Singh, Jitin Prasad and Deependra Hooda. They have all been sent into isolation including 66 other people.
Kanika’s father stated that she attended three parties but the singer said she had attended a small get-together. However, her problems are not limited to having tested positive as UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has asked officials to lodge an FIR against her for concealing facts and putting public in danger. According to the latest reports, U.P police is all set to take action against Kanika and will be filing an FIR against the singer under Section 269 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). ACS Home in a letter to Kanika Kapoor wrote, "Just one you and your callousness has brought the entire state to fear."
A senior police official said, “The FIR will be lodged against her because she came from London and was aware of the corona safety protocols. She apparently did not get tested at the airport and even though she was developing symptoms, she freely attended parties and mingled with a large number of people.”
Kanika had stayed in room no 602 of Hotel Taj which has now closed for two days and the officials are scanning the CCTV footage of the hotel to see the movement of the singer in the hotel. The party was hosted by Akbar Ahmad Dumpy. UP Health Minister Jai Pratap Singh who was present at the party has already sent his samples for corona tests on Friday afternoon.
