Yesterday, PeepingMoon.com exclusively broke the grim news that Baby Doll singer Kanika Kapoor was quietly rushed to King George’s Medical University in Lucknow with Coronavirus symptoms, after which she was tested positive. The singer returned to India from London on March 15 and reportedly flouted the rules imposed on passengers at the airport. The singer is believed to have missed or avoided the screening process. Unconfirmed sources said that Kanika hid in the washroom and kept her travel history a secret from the authorities. From the airport, she was believed to have gone to her parents’ house at Mahanagar in Lucknow. Not only this, but the singer is also said to have hosted a lavish party for around 100 people and come in contact with some more hundreds at a few other events/parties.
When a leading daily reached out to Kanika late afternoon, she had been isolated in the PGI Hospital in Lucknow. Taking about skipping the screening process, Kanika called it "baseless rumours". "I didn't run away from the airport, nor did I hide in a bathroom. Like everyone else, I was screened at the Mumbai airport after my arrival from London and was absolutely fine. So, the next day, I flew to Lucknow to stay with my parents," she said.
On March 13, the Baby Doll singer attended a party hosted by an interior designer, thus flouting the compulsory 14-day self-quarantine procedure. On her part, she said it was not a big bash attended by 100-odd people as is being reported. "It was a small get-together with 15-20 odd guests, and I did not throw any party at a five-star hotel. These are all baseless rumours."
However, the singer's father reportedly stated that she attended three parties during her Lucknow stay.
