Watch: Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif urge people to not visit public places amid Coronavirus outbreak

The sudden outbreak of the deadly Coronavirus aka COVID-19 has brought the whole world to a standstill. With the number of infected increasing at an alarming rate per day, the Indian Government, as well as the Maharashtra State Government, has announced a sort of shutdown across various states. Now, the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, in his recent speech, addressed the citizens to stay at home today and called for a 'Janta Curfew'. While essential services and Government offices shall remain operational, it is being ensured that people don't step out of their houses unless of an emergency. Supporting this decision of Mr.Modi, Bollywood celebrities have joined hands to request their fans to stay at home and be safe. Joining the bandwagon are Katrina Kaif and Salman Khan.

Katrina, on Saturday, on her Instagram account, shared a video addressing her fans. She asked them to be at home and not step out as it will put them and others into danger. The actress further urged people to not use public transport and said social distancing is a crucial measure to fight Coronavirus. "Be safe and take care of one another. Together let's help to stop the spread of this virus. Stay safe everyone," Katrina captioned her video.

Salman, on his Instagram account, recorded a video for his well-wishers and fans. The actor thanked those who are putting their lives at risk to protect the city and nation. He further appealed to people to not go against the measures laid down by the State Government. Apart from Salman and Katrina, actors like Akshay Kumar, Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan and others urged people to stay at home and be safe. Talking of the Coronavirus situation, the Government in Maharashtra has instructed a complete shutdown of theatres, parks, malls, beaches and shoots as well till March 31.
