The alarming spread of Coronavirus has confined the citizens of India to their homes. With a complete lockdown announced till April 14, everyone is locked inside their houses. Now, with nearly one week left for the shutdown to lift, Prime Minister of India, Mr. Narendra Modi engaged his countrymen by asking them to light a candle, diya or mobile flashlight for nine minutes at 9 pm today. A measure to show unity, the activity has been receiving a great response, just like the janta curfew that took place on March 22.
Extending support was Akshay Kumar. The superstar who has never shied away from standing up for the country and doing his best for the citizens, lit a cancel at his residence. "Together we stand and together we will come out of this dark phase. Till then stay strong, stay safe," Akshay wrote while sharing his picture with the candle.
Karan Johar, along with his twins, Yash Johar and Roohi Johar, flashed torchlight. "Let there be light.....there is light at the end of this dark tunnel...." Karan wrote while sharing the video on Instagram.
Ekta Kapoor also participated in the initiative from her residence in Mumbai. "DIYA for light! We will survive #JAIHIND," Ekta wrote while sharing the video on Instagram.
