Ajay Devgn to go bald for Neeraj Pandey's period drama 'Chanakya'

Ajay Devgn will be seen as the renowned Indian scholar, teacher and advisor, Chanakya in the film based on him. Titled Chanakya, the project was announced back in 2018 and was said to go on floors in October this year. However, the film got delayed. Now, due to the COVID 19 pandemic, the team of the film is working from home. 

Director Neeraj Pandey has been working on the script for over two years now and was in the middle of prep when the lockdown was announced in the country following the coronavirus pandemic and the process ground to a halt. “Now, all of us are operating from home and trying to do the best we can,” shared the director who is in constant touch with various departmental heads via video conferencing.

After several successful espionage thrillers, Chanakya is Neeraj’s foray into the period-drama genre. He is planning a two-film franchise and the two parts will be shot one after another. A source informed a leading daily that the perfectionist that he is, Ajay is planning to go bald for Chanakya. Neeraj said, “It’s simple, really. Ours is a period film and Ajay will have to look the part.”

When asked about when the film will go on floors considering the current situation, Neeraj said, “Let’s see how soon we can go on the floors. As of today, everything is very uncertain. We all just want to come out of this crisis."
