‘You want me to see that cup going away for second time?’ - Former West Indies captain Clive Lloyd tells ‘83 director Kabir Khan on watching Ranveer Singh lifting the World Cup

Filmmaker Kabir Khan and actor Boman Irani had a fun Instagram live chat together recently. In their banter, they discussed some interesting and funny stories related to the making of their upcoming Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone starrer film ’83. The film is one of the most-anticipated films of the year and depicts India’s first victory at the 1983 Cricket World Cup that was led by Kapil Dev.

In their chat, Kabir told the viewers how West Indies captain Clive Lloyd was also present at the film’s sets in London but refused to watch the filming of the climax scene where India lifts the World Cup. Kabir revealed that Clive’s son plays his role in the film. Kabir revealed that when he asked Clive to come a bit closer to watch the scene better he quipped, “You want me to see that cup going away for the second time and that too from near?”

In the chat, Kabir revealed that cricketer Malcolm Marshall’s son plays his role in the film and when he ran into bowl to Addinath M Kothare, who essays Dilip Vengarkar in the film, he almost ended up hurting him. Interestingly, in real life Marshall’s bounder had badly hurt Vengsarkar that resulted in the latter missing the finals.

’83 has been put on hold due to the Coronavirus outbreak. The film’s release date of April 10 has been rescheduled and postponed. The film also stars Tahir Raj Bhasin, Ammy Virk, Sahil Khattar, Hardy Sandhu and Saqib Saleem.
