It isn't an unknown secret that Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol have been extremely close friends since the latter starred opposite him in Abbas-Mastan's Baazigar in 1993. Since then, the two romanced each other in classics like Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, My Name Is Khan and Dilwale to name a few. While their friendship is something that everyone adores, but did you know that during the shoot of Baazigar, they could hardly tolerate each other? Well, yes. According to Shah Rukh's throwback interview with a leading daily, he warned Aamir Khan who wanted to collaborate with Kajol, against working with her as he found her to be 'very bad' and 'not focused'. However, the superstar further added that on watching the rushes of the film, he took his words back and called Aamir to tell that she is 'magical' on the screen.
“When I was working with her in Baazigar, Aamir asked me about her as he wanted to work with her. I left him a message saying, ‘She is very bad, no focus, you will not be able to work with her’. And then I saw the rushes in the evening. I kept calling Aamir to clarify. I told him, ‘I don’t know what it is but she is magical on the screen’,” Shah Rukh told.
Kajol, during the same interview, added that she also had the same feelings for Shah Rukh who used to tell her to shut up for talking too much. “I remember Shah Rukh and other actors had a huge hangover when they came on the sets and I was jabbering away in Marathi to his make-up guy. They were like ‘what is that voice. It is going to split open our heads’. He was very grumpy but I kept chatting and finally, he said, ‘Will you please shut up… chup ho jao’. I think that’s how we became friends,” Kajol added.
While Shah Rukh and Kajol worked together on a number of blockbusters, the latter went on to feature with Aamir in Ishq and Fanaa.
