Amitabh Bachchan's 'Jhund' and Abhishek Bachchan's 'Ludo' to have direct-to-web release on Netflix?

Since a couple of days, it is being touted that several makers are considering releasing their films on digital platforms in wake of the national lockdown amid the ongoing Coronavirus Pandemic. Filmmaker Shoojit Sircar also said that he is open to release Amitabh Bachchan's and Ayushmann Khurrana's 'Gulabo Sitabo' digitally if need arises. In fact, PeepingMoon.com exclusively learnt that even Janhvi Kapoor starrer Kargil Girl is also eyeing for a digital release.

Now we hear that T-Series is in the final stages of sealing a deal with Netflix for a releasing several films, including Jhund and Ludo. A leading daily quoted a source as saying, "The studio has eight to 10 films that are close to the finish line. While the head honchos were in talks with Netflix, Amazon Prime and other OTT platforms for a direct-to-web release, their conversation with Netflix has advanced considerably. Nagraj Manjule's Jhund and Anurag Basu's Ludo, starring Abhishek Bachchan, Rajkummar Rao and Fatima Sana Shaikh, are among the movies in discussion."

However, since the production house is jointly producing some of the projects, it needs consent of the other party as well for the digital release. For example, Kiara Advani-starrer Indoo Ki Jawani is co-produced by T-series and Nikkhil Advani. "So, both parties must be willing to do away with a theatrical release, and must agree on the money. Currently, the team is choosing films that it thinks have a better prospect digitally and seeking approvals from co-producers," added the source.

We await an official announcement on the same.
