He was strong in his fight, we all have to be strong too in this loss: Irrfan's official spokesperson issues statement on his last rites

Acclaimed Bollywood and Hollywood actor Irrfan breathed his last at Mumbai's Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital on Wednesday early morning. He was 54-years-old. The critically acclaimed actor was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday due to a colon infection. The actor is survived by his wife, Sutapa Sikder, and sons Babil and Ayan.

The family left the hospital to perform Irrfan's last rites. The funeral rites according to Islamic practice took place with nine from Irrfan's family and the others being friends and wellwishers.

Now, an official statement has been released by his spokesperson. "Irrfan was buried at the Versova kabrastan in Mumbai at 3 pm this afternoon soon after the news of his passing away was announced. In presence were his family, close relatives, and friends. Everyone paid their final respects and mourned the loss of his passing away. We pray for his peace and we hope he’s in a better place today. He was strong in his fight, and we all have to be strong too in this loss."

At the funeral filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj was also spotted.

After 1 am last night, the actor had stopped responding to medicines. Only 4 people were there with the actor at the hospital. His wife Sutapa, son Babil, ex-Manager Asif, and driver Hashmat.
