One of Bollywood's finest talents Nargis Dutt left for her heavenly abode 39 years ago. On the occasion of her death anniversary today, her son Sanjay Dutt remembered her fondly and went down the memory lane to cherish moments shared with her. The Panipat actor, on his Instagram account, shared a throwback picture featuring him with late Nargis.
"It’s been 39 years since you left us but I know you’re always by my side. I wish you were here with me, today & everyday. Love you and miss you everyday Mom," Sanjay wrote on Instagram.
Born as Fatima Rashid on June 1, 1929, Nargis started her acting career as a child artist with Talashe Haq in 1935. As an adult, she went on to collaborate with Raj Kapoor for iconic films. Her film Mother India is considered a landmark venture of Bollywood and she fell in love with her future husband Sunil Dutt. The two got married in 1958 and became parents to Sanjay, Namrata Dutt and Priya Dutt.
Diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 1980, Nargis slipped into coma on May 2, 1981, and breathed her last on May 3 which was exactly four days before the premiere of Sanjay's debut film Rocky. As an ode to his mother, Sanjay kept a seat vacant beside him for her in the cinema hall.
