It's their call: When Rishi Kapoor said he did not mind having only 45 odd people at Ranbir Kapoor's wedding to Alia Bhatt

Rishi Kapoor passed away on April 30 at HN Reliance Hospital after a two-year-long battle with leukemia. Bollywood was in shock and sadness after the veteran actor's demise. Apart from being an acclaimed actor that he was, Rishi was a thorough family man too. The actor loved spending time with his family members and his wife Neetu Kapoor's social media account is proof.

Many a time in interviews, the actor had expressed his desire to see his son Ranbir Kapoor getting married. Unfortunately, that couldn’t happen. Meena Iyer, who had written Rishi Kapoor's autobiography Khullam Khulla, shared details on how he had once said that he was okay with Ranbir having a private wedding.

She recalled him saying in an interview, “Rishi Kapoor said to me that he would be okay if Ranbir wanted an intimate wedding. ‘It's their call. I am okay with 45-odd people too. I will tell my friends, well-wishers to bless them. I will apologise and explain that everyone couldn't be invited because Ranbir is a private person. I respect his privacy.”

Not only this but Rishi, despite his ongoing chemotherapy, had also thought of gifting something priceless to Alia on her birthday. Meena had shared in the same interview that Rishi wanted to take Alia and Ranbir out for a meal on the former’s birthday.
